More Info

I just read the excerpt from the Mark of Athena. First off, it's extended! I won't tell you what happens, but go read it! It's a bit of a cliffhanger but better than what we had. Heroes of Olympus

Also, it says on the site that the book will be narrated from four different points of view, including Annabeth's. And according to Amazon, it's 608 pages. Yes, you read correctly! Though Rick previously stated that Amazon had no way of knowing that, I'd beg to differ as we now have the cover and the full chapter one.

It's over 600 pages, guys. OVER 600 PAGES!! AHHHHHH!

I CAN'T BREATHE.

MoA COVER!
Chapter one is available to be read on the Heroes of Olympus site. Check out the article related to the cover by clicking the link above^
Also, according to the article, he's beginning his Norse series. OMG.
Official summary: In a fantastical ship called the ArgoII, seven demigods journey by air across the United States and by sea to Rome on their quest to defeat the earth mother, Gaea. Meanwhile, war is breaking out between the Roman and Greek demigods they left behind, and only Annabeth holds the key to restoring peace.

Wow I am freaking out! Let me see if I can find a larger version of the cover.

Found the information on Rick's Twitter, by the way.

Thoughts on the cover? We can't get a good look at it until Rick posts a pic, but it looks like Percy and Jason are at odds... War between the camps, says the summary. THIS IS SO FLIPPIN EXCITING!

New Vid

Some loyal fan in Vancouver took this video of the stars on the set: SoM
Love it! I know it's brief and doesn't really tell us anything, but it's still cool.
I don't own it!

... And another.

One more picture! Leven Rambin on set as Clarisse (love the dark hair!)
Also, Stanley Tucci is rumored to have joined the cast (info courtesy of IMDb) but he doesn't have a definitive role yet. I'll keep looking, though!

Thanks to Lynette for sending me this photo. =D

What's with the fog? Any guesses?

Let's Take What We Can Get...

Shall we?

So, a little news. The Mark of Athena is on schedule. Isn't that exciting?

Anyway (sorry for the sarcasm) the release date is October 2 and Rick said it should be out just then but really, when has he ever been late? Or early, for that matter.

And we should be getting cover art in early June. So, that part's a little behind schedule, but besides that... we were just told pretty much everything we already knew.

Except the release date. I did not know that one. =D

Page Count

Rick said on twitter today (or yesterday, I didn't pay attention) that the page count for the Mark of Athena looks to be about 580 pages.

You know how long Son of Neptune was? 521. The Lost Hero? 553.

WE'RE LOOKING AT ALMOST 600 PAGES HERE.

Of course, he said he still has to work on revisions, so it could be less...

OR IT COULD BE MORE. 600 PAGES OF AWESOME, GUYS!

I Got a Twitter

Cuz that's what I do at 11:45 at night.

It's for DNN. So if you have a twitter, keep up with all the latest news right here.

Lol that sounded so formal. =D

Minor Development

Someone was cast as a twelve-year-old Thalia in the Sea of Monsters movie. Maybe we'll get some flashbacks? Exciting!

Anyway, her name is Katelyn Mager and here's her picture:

What do you think? Does she look enough like Paloma Kwiatkowski?

I think she could pull it off!

Finalized Demigod Diaries Cover

Featuring the official summary (or, one of them) on the back:

I doubt we're going to get any sneak peeks for this book, as it's so short, but I'll keep my eyes open!

The Buildup

See, I pay close attention to people's habits. When Rick Riordan goes more than a week without posting, then it's safe to say he's building up to something big.

What is he building up to? Well, that's easy.

Mark of Athena releases. Chapter one "leaked." It was read at the Serpent's Shadow events and of course, it was posted to Youtube. But it wasn't supposed to be released until late this month. So we'll get the official release of chapter one and the cover very, very soon.

This stuff was released for The Son of Neptune on May 25th, if I remember correctly. So we shouldn't have too long to wait! (For the Lost Hero, on June 21, I think, but we definitely won't have to wait that long.) If my calculations are correct, then we have ten days, fifteen maximum.

And I doubt that'll be the only release. There were two releases for SoN. And besides, we have the Demigod Diaries (which I still cannot find ANY news for) to look forward to so the Mark of Athena wait shouldn't be too horrendous.

I will post as soon as I find anything!

SoM Screenshots

Holy cows did I find some screenshots for you all!

Percy, Clarisse, Annabeth, and Grover!

Not sure why Clarisse is waving a doughnut... I guess we'll find out! Anyway, Leven Rambin looks good as a brunette! I think she fits the part.

And Annabeth looks so much better blond.

Photos courtesy of tumblr. Not sure who found them, exactly...

Sigh... and Fanfiction!

Sorry there hasn't been any news lately. I can't find ANYTHING. I've been looking specifically for stuff about the Demigod Diaries, since it's coming out in August, but I haven't come across anything I didn't already know. Since the book is so short, I doubt we'll get any serious sneak peeks, but it's still worth looking for.

Anyway, something I wanted to ask you all: do you like Percy Jackson fanfiction?

Urban Dictionary defines fanfiction as when someone takes either the story or characters (or both) of a certain piece of work, whether it be a novel, tv show, movie, etc, and create their own story based on it. Sometimes people will take characters from one movie and put them in another, which is called a cross-over.

So there you have it! Anyway, I write some fanfiction, and if you're interested in reading it, just click here: Natalia1417. Clicking on that will get you into my "gallery" on this art website I'm a member of. Once you click that, hit the box on the left entitled "the Adventures of Percy and Annabeth." Right now, I'm in the middle of a crossover with the Kane Chronicles, and another series that puts Percy and Annabeth in an alternate universe. That series is called Alternative.

Besides that, I have a whole bunch of other stories in there. I'd much appreciate it if you check it out! (Yes, I am shamelessly promoting myself. ;) )

*No copyright infringement intended by my fanfictions.

DON'T FREAK OUT

It's not the real cover!

I was on this website called deviantART today. It's a website where artists post their work and all. Anyway, I stumbled upon someone's rendition of the Mark of Athena cover:

This isn't the real cover! Just an excited fan that wanted to do their own version. Anyway, I don't own this. I didn't get the name of the person who does, though. So whoever you are, thanks for this amazing drawing!

Something else I wanted to bring up: this blog has had over 1,200 page views! So a huge thank you to everyone! And thanks for making DNN your favorite source for all things Percy Jackson. ;)

*Photo courtesy of unknown artist. Sorry bout that...

Better Version of MoA Chapter 1

Lynette kindly sent me a better quality version of the video:

Reading V. 2

Don't know who owns the video, or the original version that I posted.

I FOUND IT

I FOUND IT I FOUND IT I FOUND IT I FOUND IT I FOUND IT I FOUND IT I FOUND IT.

SERIOUSLY YOU ALL DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW EXCITED I WAS TO HAVE FINALLY FOUND THIS.

Rick reads from MoA chapter 1

Yes, you read correctly! I finally found it. I can see if I can find the full presentation for Serpent's Shadow and all if anyone is interested.

Isn't it amazing? Discuss in the comments! I don't want to give anything away before you watch it.

New Developments

So as I already mentioned, Rick is supposed to read a sneak peek from the Mark of Athena in a webcast that apparently premiered five and a half hours ago. As such, it is not available on the internet yet, but if he doesn't post a link for the video tomorrow, I will most likely be able to find it on youtube. Guaranteed someone filmed it.

Anyway, while looking for the vid, I stumbled upon a summary of the Mark of Athena in video form: MoA
Or, just read on:
In The Son of Neptune, Percy, Frank, and Hazel met at Camp Jupiter, the Roman equivalent of Camp Half-Blood and traveled to the land beyond the gods to complete a dangerous quest. The third book in the Heroes of Olympus series will unite them with Jason, Piper and Leo. But they number only six. Who will complete the prophecy of seven? The Greek and Roman demigods will have to cooperate in order to defeat the giants released by the earth mother, Gaea. Then they will have to sail together to the ancient land, Greece itself, to find the Doors of Death. What, exactly, are the Doors of Death? Much of the prophesy remains a mystery.

With old friends and new friends joining forces, a marvelous ship, fearsome foes, and an exotic setting, the Mark of Athena promises to be another unforgettable adventure by master storyteller Rick Riordan.

So there you have it! The cover hasn't been released yet, but I will post again when I find that and the sneak peek that was read.

In other news, the Serpent's Shadow (final installment in the Kane Chronicles) is available today. I went and bought myself a copy. I gotta say, the cover is PHENOMENAL. The colors are amazing and I can't wait to read it and see how it ends. Unfortunately, I have to read the first two books to refresh my memory so it may be a while before I let you know what I think. Well, that's it, guys. The recordings from the Kane siblings are officially finished.

That's all I wanted to bring up. No news for the movie, as of now.

I'll see if I can find that Mark of Athena reading...
