Got Some Bad News...

The moment we've all been dreading...

The Mark of Athena UK cover is out.
It looks like something out of a video game. It scares me.

Obviously, this series is a mega bestseller in the UK, but with covers like that, I'd think twice about buying one of those books.

And I thought the Son of Neptune cover was bad.

What do I like about it? The color's great. I like the tagline at the top... That's about it.

What do you all think?

So Anyway...

Sean Bean will be returning as Zeus in the Sea of Monsters!

And Mark Hamill is rumored to play Tantalus... Can't wait for that one! I know he's an incredible voice actor, but I wonder what he can do in real life.

Twitter Q&A

There's a great Q&A session on Rick's twitter account. You can read it here: Twitter

He answers some questions I think you all might find interesting... Something to the effect that Annabeth's and Percy's gray streaks will be mentioned in MoA... and a scene that he wrote in that book that he actually teared up about. Wow I can't wait to read that one...

Also, it looks like the Norse series (which is official) is set for three books.

Anyway, he answers a ton of questions. Go check it out!

A Little Behind...

Sorry I missed the Demigod Diaries thing (and thanks, Lynette, for reminding me)! I went to visit my grandma and she didn't have internet at her house so...

ANYWAY for those of you who haven't read the new Demigod Diaries thing, go check it out here: DD

I can't wait to read it!

The Site Went Live!

May have mentioned briefly in a previous post that there's going to be a site for the Mark of Athena called Greeks vs. Romans. Well, it's up!

GreeksvsRomans

If I had to guess, I'd say more people are on the Greeks' side.... Just sayin.

For right now, there isn't a whole lot on the site (just two vids) but there should be more coming soon so check it often!

Something Small...

According to Rick's twitter account, we're going to meet the goddess Nemesis in the Mark of Athena. Hopefully we'll get some character art for her!

Anyway, Nemesis is the goddess of revenge. This should be fun...

Casting

Here's an interview with Paloma Kwiatkowski (Thalia Grace): Thalia Interview It's short, but the thing that caught my eye was this line: "The audition was her first ever, and after a couple of callbacks, a bit of studio chin-scratching, and a full-costume screen test complete with dyed hair and coloured contact lenses, she was cast as Thalia, daughter of Zeus."

She's gonna look the part!

Anyway, Stanley Tucci is officially signed on as Dionysus! And someone was cast as the manticore, which is weird because he doesn't show up until book three. Maybe a misprint/typo/whatever, but I'm still just hoping this doesn't turn out like The Lightning Thief.

*Edit: The official release date for the movie is August 16, 2013.

Official Summary

Here's the one that's going to be on the inside flap of the book:

Annabeth is terrified. Just when she's about to be reunited with Percy—after six months of being apart, thanks to Hera—it looks like Camp Jupiter is preparing for war. As Annabeth and her friends Jason, Piper, and Leo fly in on the Argo II, she can't blame the Roman demigods for thinking the ship is a Greek weapon. With its steaming bronze dragon masthead, Leo's fantastical creation doesn't appear friendly. Annabeth hopes that the sight of their praetor Jason on deck will reassure the Romans that the visitors from Camp Half-Blood are coming in peace.

And that's only one of her worries. In her pocket Annabeth carries a gift from her mother that came with an unnerving demand: Follow the Mark of Athena. Avenge me. Annabeth already feels weighed down by the prophecy that will send seven demigods on a quest to find—and close— the Doors of Death. What more does Athena want from her?

Annabeth's biggest fear, though, is that Percy might have changed. What if he's now attached to Roman ways? Does he still need his old friends? As the daughter of the goddess of war and wisdom, Annabeth knows she was born to be a leader, but never again does she want to be without Seaweed Brain by her side.

Narrated by four different demigods, The Mark of Athena is an unforgettable journey across land and sea to Rome, where important discoveries, surprising sacrifices, and unspeakable horrors await. Climb aboard the Argo II, if you dare. . . .

Found it on deviantART. Naturally, I don't own it.

Wow, guys this is so exciting! What do you think is in Annabeth's pocket? Who are the four narrators? We know one of them is Annabeth, obviously.

And she can't do it without Seaweed Brain!

More on the Cover

Yes, guys, that is Percy on Blackjack and Jason on another horse. Looks like they're about to fight... Rick said the cover is an actual scene from the book. Anyway, I love the details! Like the wave Percy is on and the thundercloud Jason is on. This is awesome!

Ok, so the book is scheduled for release on October 2 of this year and the tour dates will be up about a month before the release. To make the wait a little easier, we have the Demigod Diaries available August 14 and the promise of a new website called GreeksvsRomans.com which Rick said almost nothing about.

So it looks like this book is going to be centered around the feud between the camps... OMG I CAN'T WAIT.
