Quick Casting Update

According to IMDb, Grey Damon is rumored to be cast as Chris Rodriguez. He's not extremely famous, but he was in the ABC Family show The Nine Lives of Chloe King. He's a good actor, and not too bad looking if I do say so myself. ;)

I'll let you know if anything's confirmed!

Also, the movie has been categorized as post-production, as opposed to pre-production and production. (Look at me, sounding smart!) I don't know for sure, but I believe that means they are finished with filming and there's just a lot of cutting and editing left. Remember, the movie is out in March!

MoA Deluxe Edition

B&N << That, my friends, is a link to the Barnes & Noble page for The Mark of Athena Deluxe Edition, featuring an autograph from the author.

It's pretty snazzy-looking, but it's also pretty expensive...

Remember, there are only a few of these available so hurry up and order!

One more thing: the page count for the deluxe version is 600 (according to B&N), 608 (according to Amazon), and a few other sources seem to think it's 580. Of course, we won't know for sure until Rick says otherwise, but I think it's pretty safe to say about 590 pages?? I can't wait!

Hold up, there's something else. If anyone's interested, the shipping weight is 1.4 pounds! So exciting, right? ;) And also, the book is a lot cheaper now if you pre-order on Amazon. (Gosh, I give them so much good press!) It's only eleven dollars right now. GO ORDER IT PEOPLE!

Personally, however I don't pre-order because last year it did not ship on the release date (when it should have shipped the day before, like it did with The Lost Hero.) So I cancelled and decided not to take a chance and just go to a bookstore.

63 days left! Late August, shortly after the Demigod Diaries release, we should be getting some character art.

Red Pyramid Graphic Novel...

... is out the same day as The Mark of Athena, October 2!

Not sure if I already knew that... Whatever the case, here's the poster (featuring the cover) for the graphic novel:
I'd say it looks pretty good! I probably won't buy it, but I will try to find it when it comes out and I'll let you all know what I think! Meanwhile, I'll be on the lookout for sneak peeks.

Leven On Set!

Or... a picture of a picture of Leven Rambin on set...

I haven't found anything good lately...

Not Much, But Something!

That, my friends, is the title page for The Mark of Athena. Rick will be signing 1,000 of those before they're put in the books and sold as a special collector's edition. Since there's only 1,000, the chances of getting your hands on one of those are kind of slim.

However, when The Son of Neptune came out, only a few contained a pamphlet for Camp Jupiter and I managed to get one of those. But I think they printed quite a few pamphlets...

Whatever the case, Rick said that the tour dates for MoA will be available soon. I'll keep looking!

Hope he's coming to the East Coast this time...

I Forgot Something! (And No One is Surprised)

Some international covers for The Son of Neptune:

The first is Chinese, second is Finnish, and third is Indonesian. I gotta say, the last one is pretty darn creative! =D

Not Sure If This is Legit...

Anyway, I stumbled upon an extended preview of the Staff of Hermes, one of the short stores featured in The Demigod Diaries. The person who posted it was mum as to where they found it, but it isn't on Rick's blog and it isn't on his twitter...

Here it is:

Annabeth and I were relaxing on the great lawn in Central park when she ambushed me with a question.

"You forgot, didn't you?"

I went into red alert mode. It's easy to panic when you're a new boyfriend. Sure, I'd fought monsters with Annabeth for years. Together we'd face the wrath of the gods. We'd battled Titans and calmly faced death a dozen times. But now that we were dating, one frown from her and I freaked. What had I done wrong?

I mentally reviewed the picnic list: Comfy Blankets? Check. Annabeth's favourite pizza with extra olives? Check. Chocolate toffee from La Maison du Chocolat? Check.Weapons in case of a sudden greek mythological apocalypse?

So what had I forgotten?

I was tempted (briefly) to bluff my way through. Two things stopped me. First, I didn't want to lie to Annabeth. Second, she was too smart. She'd see right through me.

It's not much longer, but it's still something.

Also, in case I didn't mention this, The Demigod Diaries is going to be 256 pages. And we only have 27 more days until the release!!

Sorry if I'm not up-to-date on some recent news (though there hasn't been any!) but my computer charger actually melted. Yes, you read correctly. I can't go on my computer (so I'm using my mom's) until the new charger gets here. Unfortunately, all my sources and info are on my laptop, which is out of battery. And I'm out of luck.

Bear with me, my charger should be here today or tomorrow...

I Found...

... Some pictures! Of camp! Not sure if they're gonna be in the new movie, but I thought I'd share them.

Also, there's going to be a display of John Rocco's art somewhere in the Orlando area on July 14 I think. Haha, sorry I didn't catch all the details.

"Coming Attractions" and New Followers

First things first, I'd like to thank ALL my followers and everyone who looks to DNN for the latest Percy Jackson news. Secondly, I'd like to thank our newest official followers Meghan Bravo, Pratibha Singh, Jim Tse, and Tia Botts. Welcome to the club!

Some of these "newbies" have been here a little while, but I've neglected to thank them =( and for that I'm sorry.

On to other things....

Next month is going to be a big months for news here at DNN! We're expecting The Demigod Diaries on August 14 and the character releases for The Mark of Athena should start in late August. If my memory serves me, the character releases for The Son of Neptune started August 26, so it should be around then.

Brief reminder: The Sea of Monsters Graphic Novel is set for release on September 4 of this year. I've heard from a few reliable sources that it's "better than the first," much like the movie. ;) A lot of people weren't crazy about the first graphic novel.

There haven't been any sneak previews yet, but I'll keep looking.

Now for the movie: A reliable source (a new one, that I've added to my long list of sources) tells me that the release date for The Sea of Monsters movie has been moved up two weeks to March 15, 2013. I don't think I knew a previously announced release date, but I may have posted it here. Anyway, it's coming out two weeks sooner! (*Edit: apparently, I did find a release date, and it was mid-August 2013. I'm quite relieved they changed it to March!)

A few changes have been made for the cast. Stanley Tucci is confirmed as Dionysus; Robert Maillet, who I believe was cast tentatively as Polyphemus, has apparently been changed to a Laistrygonian, though nothing's confirmed on that yet; Mark Hamill is still "rumored" to play Tantalus.

And lastly, because I'm so random, here's the Russian cover for The Sea of Monsters! (It's been out a while, for the record. However, The Red Pyramid was recently released in Russia! That cover's great, too.)

I gotta say, of all the foreign covers, I like the Russian ones the best. Though I must concede: the Japanese Red Pyramid cover isn't bad either:
