House of Hades

Happy New Year!

I found a couple of interesting theories we could discuss, but first, a general update.

Rick reassures us once again that he is "deep into writing The House of Hades." He better be.

I've been looking for more information about the Sea of Monsters movie, and though I didn't find much, I did find some interesting things. Contrary to my earlier belief that the movie was going to be released in March of this year, the official date is August 16, 2013. Also, the movie is going to be converted to 3D in post-production (the stage it's in right now), and this lovely lady

(Zoe Aggeliki; Swedish/Greek model/actress) has been cast as Silena Beauregard! According to Wikipedia, at least. As far as I remember, Silena doesn't appear in Sea of Monsters, but I guess we'll have to see.

On to the theories. I'm re-reading The Mark of Athena (and I assume most of you have at least finished it once) and I came up with a couple of interesting things. I did some research on Epirus, and found out that it's a region, not a city, most of which spans Northwestern Greece and the rest of which spans some of Albania. I couldn't find anything that might indicate the significance of this in The House of Hades, but I did find information about a princess from that region named Olympias. She was a member of a snake-worshiping cult (so snakes might come into play in this next book) that followed Dionysus. I also understand she was mother of Alexander the Great? According to Wikipedia. One other notable thing: an olympic medal was found in Egypt in 1902 bearing her picture. I doubt that pertains to the book, however.

As for the narration of The House of Hades, I think the Romans are going to be narrating this time around. Here's a message I sent to my friend online, talking about just that:

"The Lost Hero was Jason, Piper, and Leo. The Son of Neptune was Percy, Frank, and Hazel. The Mark of Athena was Percy, Piper, Leo, and Annabeth. It's safe to assume that The House of Hades will be Jason, Frank, and Hazel. Maybe Reyna, too? Or will Annabeth go a second time?"

Who knows? And I have another friend on a different website that has some interesting theories. She posts most of them here. She and I were talking the other day and as soon as she replies, I'll post the theories we were discussing.

  1. I searched around for more news on the SOM movie, but like you I found nothing new.

I also assumed that the House of Hades will be following Jason, Hazel, and Frank. However, I realized that we will lack insight of what will be happening with Annabeth and Percy in Tartarus (hope spelling is correct). We all love Percy, but he had so many narrations and POVs so it will be more justice for Annabeth to have another POV for the sake of not keeping us readers in the dark on her and Percy's journey. However, Riordan may keep us in the dark about them simply to keep us hooked though I think we all are anyways.

    1. It's gotta be Annabeth. You're right, though, we may be in the dark, but I seem to think Percy and Annabeth will be out of Tartarus at the end of House of Hades.

    2. I agree on that and there will be one more after this one. So Percy and Annabeth will probably make it out of Tartarus at the end of HOH.

P.S. I think the cover colors for House of Hades will be black and green.

  2. I had a long time to check DNN due to time consuming activities like univercity an such.

I also been absent from PJO world so i'd like to throw some theories.

I am from Greece and living here at the moment so i can provide you with some info you'll most probably can't find in th net.

At Epirus flows the river Acheron which is the river Charon travels the souls into the Underworld.
The Styx is a river of the Underworld not the upper world don't confuse them. I think that Acheron actually turn into Styx when the River enters the Underwolrd but that info slips my mind right now.

So i the region where Acheron is is claimed by the ancients to be a door to the Underworld(the main door actually) so i think that will be the region the Doors of Death are.
Maybe in the ancient times the where a temple or an oracle there so that's why it's called the House of Hades(if not for the obvious reason).

As for the POV's i personally think will we have Percy's and Annabeth's POV's as well as Jason's and Nico's. I personally think there will be more POV's than the last book.

And i think you are right Percy and Annabeth will most likely make it out alive. But the door's must be closed from both ends. So someone will be left behind.

    1. I don't think we'll have Percy, as he's already narrated twice. But definitely Annabeth! And Rick said specifically that Nico won't be narrating at all in this series, though it would be cool if he did!

      Thanks for the info!

    2. I was reading something on a website and there was a question asked if we will see Nico and Rick answered - quite a bit!
I just hope Nico has a point of view cause that guy is reallly silent! :( *sigh*

    3. He said we will see a lot of Nico, but that Nico will not be narrating in this series =(

  3. Oh he did ? I think i missed that one.
As for Percy well i am a fan what can i say !
But seriously the last book was for Annabeth mostly so if no Percy then logically no Annabeth.

Piper and Hazel are not that interesting but i think with how things go that we'll have at least Hazel if not Hazel, Jason, Leo and/or Frank all together with no Annabeth or/and Percy.
